About Jan

Jan Lars Mueller is the executive director of the Association for the Study of Peak Oil USA, a non-profit non-partisan organization dedicated to helping America understand and adapt to a new energy reality, where oil and gas are becoming more costly and difficult to extract from the Earth, and their rate of supply may peak and decline.

Jan brings more than 20 years of experience in leading organizations and campaigns to address complex economic, energy, and environmental issues. Prior to joining ASPO-USA, Jan headed the transportation and community energy program at the Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI), a research and education organization founded to provide Congress with independent information on energy and environmental issues. Jan’s extensive expertise in transportation and energy covers fuels, vehicle technology, transportation system design, land use, and travel demand, as well as local energy strategies and their role in economic development.

Jan previously spearheaded the transportation policy program manager at National Wildlife Federation (NWF). Jan started his career as an urban and regional planner which honed his talents for working with diverse interests and reconciling competing issues and goals. He holds graduate degrees in resource management and landscape architecture, and an undergraduate degree in economics, all from the University of Michigan.
