Building on its 2010 debut in Washington DC, the 2011 ASPO-USA Peak Oil & Energy Conference will return to the nation’s capital November 2-5. ASPO-USA will continue to use the conference as a vehicle to reach policymakers, national media, partner organizations, and other key audiences. The Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill will again provide the venue for conference sessions to be held on Thursday and Friday, November 3 and 4. Special policymaker and media outreach activities are planned for Wednesday, November 2, while Saturday, November 5 will be reserved for workgroup sessions and action-oriented follow-up discussions.

The theme of this year’s conference is Truth in Energy, to focus attention on the importance of reliable, transparent energy information, and the need for policymakers and other leaders to have an accurate understanding of the energy challenges facing our nation. Truth in Energy incorporates ASPO-USA’s recognized strength as a forum for credible information, rigorous analysis, and honest debate; however, it also extends to developing new, innovative ways to communicate our work, and illuminate the challenges and choices posed by peak oil.

The conference will feature the latest technical data and research, a hallmark of our highly-regarded annual conferences, but this year’s conference will focus even more on examining implications of peak oil issues for the economy and other critical aspects of American life, and distinguishing between meaningful and misguided response strategies.

We have already received numerous suggestions and questions regarding the conference. We greatly value and appreciate your thoughtful input, and welcome more ideas and comments on speakers you would like to see and issues you would like addressed. We are also inviting conference sponsors. Please feel free to email us at conferences@aspousa.org, or visit the 2011 conference website.

With your help and support, we plan to make 2011 our best conference yet.
